Izium

During the hugely successful Ukrainian counteroffensive last fall, Izium was the site of some of the most intensive fighting of the war.  There are areas where there are virtually no buildings intact; many civilians were killed here.  One building we highlight below was missing an entire large section in the center of it, with memorials to those killed still there from last fall.  It's surreal to look up into someone's kitchen or bedroom and see their cups and dishes still sitting there, or their desk, with books on a wall, frozen in time.
