Oh, to have a nickel for every air alert that pops up on my phone all day long, and half the night… Fortunately, the vast majority of them are false alarms, as either the missile goes elsewhere or the Russian plane in the air doesn't launch anything.

I was awakened by a large explosion at about 12:30 AM on May 4, and this was the view from my apartment window. A Shahed drone hit a residential area, fortunately no injuries.

At a refugee center here in Kharkiv, where we held a painting session and played games with residents. This woman was so interesting to talk to (through an interpreter, of course), she talked about when the Russians invaded her area and all the shelling she experienced.
And she ADORED Annie!

This cute girl heard me say "come on, baby" to Annie, and she immediately repeated it verbatim. She absolutely adored Annie.

This was a brand new high-tech shopping mall that was just getting ready to open, when the Russians launched a bunch of missiles at it and completely destroyed it

Just something I saw online, a Vyshyvanka decorated with F-16's; they should be arriving in about a month or so

A large shipment of diapers going to be distributed to refugees in another town, fleeing the fighting north of Kharkiv near the Russian border

The sign says Balaklyia, where Annie and I made a delivery delivery. Yura, a priest who runs a distribution in town, has become a good friend of ours and it's always a delight to visit them.

It was the day before orthodox Easter, and they were getting ready to do a biblical presentation. Here, we see Pontius Pilate.

Voice of America TV network did a segment on our humanitarian efforts at a park in Kharkiv

Someone told me about this shelter for disabled displaced people, not far from my apartment. They needed some propane stoves for cooking when the electricity is out, large hot water thermoses, and ready to eat foods.

These women are always greeted with hugs from the kids when they go back to these shelters. It's a wonderful brief distraction from what they've had to endure
