Trip #1, March 23 - April 13
Planning for the trip at my house, with Mila and Eugene. They're from outside Lviv, and were a huge help while we were in Poland.
The journey starts! Mila and Yevgen seeing me off at Logan airport.
Ivan, Frito and the gang at one of our dropoff points for aid to the Ukrainian military.
Picking up a load of military radios, body armor, etc. to be driven 5 hours to the border.
Shopping with 19 refugees to get them new clothing and sneakers.
"Glory to Ukraine!"
The flag hanging in Room 13 at the Tesco Refugee Center in Przemysl, Poland.
"Jersey Jim" hanging our flag in Room 13.
After the crew in Room 13 signed the flag, Jersey Jim wore it for the entire Boston Marathon!
The beginning and end of our journey; 8001 km = 4,972 miles.
John and Brian with Rob, one of the management volunteers. A super hardworking guy, and an actor in 'real life'.
"The crew" in Room 13 at the Przemyl refugee center
When we got to the refugee center, donated clothing was being stored like this...
John loading up lumber to make clothing racks for the refugee center
Volunteers offloading the lumber at the center
With our donors' GoFundMe money, we were able to buy lumber and materials to build these clothing racks, making it easier for refugees to sort through donated clothing.
We saw quite a bit of this on the highways in Poland near the border.
Some of the (100) 20,000 mAh power banks purchased with GFM funds, to go directly to front line Ukrainian troops.
Saying goodbye to a wonderful family, when their bus showed up to take them to France. Beautiful kids, we had a ball playing with them while we waited.
